We're pleased to take the next step in fulfilling our Web visitor's
wishes, SpiritGuides has launched a new gallery. The current gallery
contains works of art by a trusted friend and associate, outsider
artist Paul Flack.
About the Artist.
Urged to create folk art at insistence of friends and family, the
consummate, do-it-yourselfer with a vivid imagination and a strong
sense of color, shape and organization has provided Paul with a
wealth of imagery.
An Atlanta Georgia resident, new construction sites
resulting from suburban sprawl provided an abundance of scrap materials.
Most of his works are paintings - acrylic paint or watercolor on
textured exterior particleboard. Paintings often incorporate found
objects such as mirrors, joint compound and plaster of Paris for
texture. They also employ a variety of translucent washes for extra
richness.
In less than four years, Flack has produced and cataloged
more than 600 pieces of work. To aid collectors, each piece is numbered,
signed, recorded in a journal.
His imagery is primarily whimsical faces and masks
often painted on fish, dogs and other creatures, flowers and angels.
And, they are often parts of a series dealing with life, love, spirituality
and fun.

Bring Angels and Artwork into
your life
An beautiful and whimsical opportunity.
If
you can imagine ....
Each work is typically produced in brilliant, lively colors.
The composite material that each item is produced upon, one
would typically identify as resembling plywood (not paper or
canvas). Each "board" is then prepared with a texturing
compound to add depth and dimension before the artwork has even
been applied.
After careful preparation, the illustration begins and is
layered with a combination of latex paint, paint "sticks"
texturing compound and a variety of embedded objects. Many
of the objects that appear as grey "shards" (imbedded
in the wings and other areas of the works) are in fact small
mosaic mirrors. This adds a distinct depth, texture and brilliance
to the work with its reflective quality that simply cannot
be fully appreciated via the Web. They are truly angels of
light.
Each work comes prepared for immediate display with the appropriate
mounting hardware in place. Most works are actually on raised
mounting strips that "float" the work approximately
2" off of the wall surface creating additional dimension
and beauty. They can be shipped to any location.
